Board Assessment
The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Heartland Chapter cordially invites you to attend our third chapter meeting on Thursday, April 7, 2005.
The topic for this meeting is Board Assessment and will include the following discussion.
The benefits of evaluation are clear. It is imperative to have standards of performance measurement for the board. Without such standards, a board cannot assess its own successes and failures. Certainly, evaluations can help directors measure how well they are meeting their duties of care and loyalty and their fiduciary responsibilities. Equally important, evaluation says to all concerned, "We want to do better." Some may ask, "On what basis can boards expect their performance to be evaluated?" At the broadest level, the reasons for evaluation are philosophical, psychological, and just plain practical.
Speakers for this event include:
Neal Patterson, Cerner Corporation, Chairman of the Board & CEO
Andrew Schmitt, Layne Christensen Company, President & CEO
Tom Bowser, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, President & CEO
The NACD Heartland Chapter meeting will be from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m., at The Carriage Club, 5301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. This meeting is open exclusively to individuals serving as directors on boards. Costs to attend this meeting will be $20 for NACD members and $30 for non-members.
